Damchiya’ or ‘Dhamchiya is what was an Indian bride’s dresser used in earlier times.
Most commonly used in Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, these furniture pieces were used as hope chests to store a bride’s dowry and after the wedding, these were used for storing clothes and other valuables.
In modern times like ours, they make for great show pieces in our hallways and can also be used as blanket boxes, buffets, dressers or even as bathroom vanities..
